Goals, goals, goals, baby, baby, baby.

Goals, goals, goals, baby, baby, baby.

Hey y’all! And happy new year to everyone!
I hope everyone had an awesome time ringing in the new year. I actually forgot it was New Year’s Eve and barely made it to 10 o clock. Oopsies!
I am 38 weeks pregnant tomorrow and feeling every single one of those 38 weeks! With the end of this pregnancy nearing I have put into perspective some of my goals for this year. Mostly running related goals.
I’ve decided I am not going to focus solely on losing this baby weight. I have decided to focus on the miles I run and walk this year and put more energy into eating better foods.
I sat down the other night and went over goals for my marathon training. I think it has been long enough since my last that I have forgotten the feeling of my legs falling off after I was done. Ha! Now that I’ve blocked that out…it’s time to plan for my second!
I am planning on starting my training in the spring. The program I’m doing is a very long and take your time kind of program. Something I am going to need after pushing out a tiny human. I needed one that was going to help me to get back into running after 10 weeks of no running miles.
So I picked Hal Higdons 30 week program. I will start in the spring and it should put me to being prepared for my marathon by the fall. I’m excited to take this journey again and this time I will be documenting my running journey.
I’ll be documenting what it is like being a mom to a newborn as well as training with my newborn as well. I know adding a new born into my marathon training mix will be a little bit tricky. But I am totally prepared and ready to take on this challenge. I have a ton of people supporting me(including my amazing husband who now runs with me).
I plan to run numerous 5k’s, 10k’s, a half marathon, and then my full. On top of all that I will be joining in on the Under Armor You vs the year challenge. It is to run 1017km in 2017. It’s going to be tricky to reach that number since I will be starting after I heal from baby. But I will try my best!
I plan to fit into my old clothes again(who knows when that will happen) and I do plan on getting the baby weight off(again, who knows when that will happen).
I’m rolling with the punches here. I have my goals laid out and I really can’t wait to reach them!
But first, lets have a baby!
I can’t wait to update you all on my birthing experience and I can’t wait to share the news that our baby is welcomed into the world! A few more weeks till Dday!
Now, enough of this long post where I rambled on about my running goals. Hehe.
Thanks for reading,

Lex

Week 4 day 3 of marathon training

Week 4 day 3 of marathon training

today’s training was a tad different then normal. After Tuesday’s horrific run I was a little nervous to head out and take my daughter again. For those of you who didn’t read about Tuesday’s run..well, to give you a recap…it was awful. Everything seemed to go wrong and my head wasn’t there at all. So, I was a little nervous this morning. Once I got out there and got going I felt great. Although my mind wasn’t 100% in the game…it was a much much better run. 🙂 What was different about today’s training was I did my 3 mile run followed immediately by a 7 mile bike ride pulling my daughter in the bike trailer behind me. I have never done running and biking together like that before. It wore me out but, it really felt great! I did it because of two of my friends. They completed the ironman distance INSIDE yesterday. Yes, you read that right. Inside. That would be 2.4 miles in the pool, 112 miles on the spin bike, and 26.2 miles on the treadmill! Pretty awesome stuff. They were the first females to do the ironman distance inside. They made history. One of them even set a world record! Pretty amazing stuff going on. They had a dream and they went after it and made it happen! I am so proud of the both of them! They are the reason I gave running and biking a chance together today. They inspired me to get a small tiny little taste of what they endured yesterday. I am just amazed. So, that was my training. Tomorrow is the big 9 miles! Longest distance I have run since my half marathon. I am mentally prepared and will get well rested tonight and take off early tomorrow morning! Can’t wait to let you all know how it goes!

Week 3 day 1

Week 3 day 1

Hello all,
I forgot to post about my run yesterday so here goes! I am on week 3 of training!!!! Woo!!! I couldn’t be more excited! I did 3 miles yesterday. It was an awful 3 miles. It was hot and my legs weren’t having it. My legs were so stubborn yesterday. They did not want to go for some reason! It was frustrating. My mind wasn’t in the game yesterday either. I wanted to be sitting on the sofa or taking a nap. I waited till later on in the day to go out because of the heat. Well, waiting didn’t help…it was still about 88 degrees when I went out. Lets just say I got my sweat on for sure! Haha! I wasn’t displeased with my time. I was a little irritated with my speed towards the end of my run. I was dragging SO bad the last mile. I wish I could say I looked deep inside myself and tried to pull out extra some energy to finish strong, but I didn’t. I finished non the less though. I’m not so sure why my run was so crappy yesterday. I didn’t eat exactly right before and it was so hot. I think those played a factor in it. Today I have 4 miles…I’m going to go run some trails today! Get out of my neighborhood and get some new routes! Because I am getting SO bored with my current route. Here’s for a smooth enjoyable run today!!!

As always, thanks for reading,
Lex

Week 2 of training

Week 2 of training

Hello all!
Today’s run was quite interesting. Even on my short runs there is always something interesting to write about. I started out my run alone…I decided I wanted to get out and run without the jogger. My husband is home sick from work and my baby girl was so into Elmo ‘s world that it was the perfect time to sneak out and get my run on. I got about halfway through my run when my man called to tell me the doctors called to say that his blood work from this morning wasn’t accurate. So, he had to go back in for more. I darted home and grabbed the jogger and Allie big and headed back out to finish my run. I was feeling pretty good for most of the run. I got a few blisters from my run on Saturday. And my German shepherd, Hershie had stepped on the back of my right foot and cut my heel open. So that was a little uncomfortable. I also bruised the inside of my left foot and that would make me wince every now and then. But, nothing seriously wrong. 😉 The weather was absolutely perfect this morning for my run. It was overcast(which I LOVE running under clouds) and there was a nice steady breeze. It was great! Our mailman is pretty awesome too. He likes to cheer me on as I run past him. He always does this. It makes me smile! Now I am icing my foot and watching the sword and the stone with my sick man. Biceps and abs later. I gotta keep my whole body strong and healthy!
